Hairweaves like Europeans

There was a quiz site, very similar to All Look Same, where one had to guess which European country someone was from by their photograph. Any idea what this was?
Response by poster: Thanks, but that's not what I'm looking for. It was a test to see whether you could identify somebody's nationality by a photograph.

There are lots of mini-quizzes on Dienekes' Anthropology blog: 1, 2, 3. There is also a more extensive mix-and-match quiz somewhere there, but I can't find it at the moment.

Scroll through this page on that blog for more mini-quizzes on facial composites.

Best answer: Dienekes' Anthropology Blog has done quite a number of posts on human craniofacial diversity (and genetic diversity in general, covering the latest y-chromosome DNA, mitochondrial DNA, and autosomal DNA studies). But he also does his own composite photomanipulations, usually created from images of soccer players from specific European countries, which might be what you're thinking of:
- Guess the origin of these four composites
- Another Four Composites: guess their origin
- Composite Argentinean player (FIFA 2010 World Cup)
- Composite Greek player (FIFA 2010 World Cup)
- Composite faces of Iran (this one is really cool -- composited 1939 photos of Isfahan Jews vs. Yezd-i-Khast villagers vs. Kinareh villagers vs. Lurs from Pusht-i-Kuh)
- Guess their origin and rate their attractiveness
- Les Bleus vs. Squadra Azzurra (French vs. Italian World Cup 2006 teams)
And there are a few composites of female Europeans from various countries:
- Who is who?
And finally, my favorite of his composites, his phenotypical map of Europe, with each country's soccer team's composite photo superimposed on top of the country.

Best answer: An acquaintance of mine hosted a quiz like this on his now-defunct website. I think he enjoyed mild internet notoriety for this for a little while, so that might be what you're thinking of, but it's most assuredly gone now. It was indeed exactly like All Look Same except that they were all white people of European origin.
