Free/cheap iPhone 3G app that lets you set an audio alarm for a future date and time?
Alarm Clock. It comes with it.

Ah... I thought that an "Alert" you set in the Calendar app would only be visual. It appears to chirp.

It chirps if you have:
Settings / Sounds / Calendar Alerts = ON

Or, set an alarm on a google calendar that sends you an sms whenever you want it...

Handy if you aren't already acquainted with it; e.ggtimer lets you just type a period of time in your browser's address bar and will sound a timer at the end of the designated time.
Default is seconds so if you want to set a timer for forty-five seconds you would type e.ggtimer.com/45. Otherwise, you can type just about anything that makes sense...e.ggtimer.com/1hour23minutes45seconds...etc.
