Wat kind of bird could this be? I saw it in my garden twice now, location is The Netherlands. Sadly I didn't get to take more/better pics.
oh wow. I was going to say, it looks like a really weirdly colored Blue Jay.

Response by poster: HFSH: Thanks, I saw that when I clicked on Catseye's link and then checked the Dutch version of that page. The name is so familiar that I feel ashamed of not having recognised it in the first place!
