Is there an NYC fireworks calendar?

Is there a site that lists all fireworks displays in New York City? Since fireworks require permits, they must be tracked somewhere. All summer long I hear fireworks outside my window two or three times a week, and it'd be nice to see them too!
The ones you're hearing are 99% illegal.

Response by poster: Thanks, but I'm pretty sure I'm hearing professional fireworks displays-- they're quite loud and booming, go on for 10-30 minutes and come to a crescendo at the end.
I did stumble on an unofficial fireworks display at a block party in Cobble Hill one July 4th-- it was pretty spectacular close up, but the sounds were crackling rather than booming.
Still, it's quite possible that I'm mistaken!

Every Friday night (plus a bunch of Saturdays) at Coney Island.
Get off the West 8th (Aquarium) stop on the F/Q and walk down the boardwalk connection that passes on the left side of the Cyclone. Sit down on the beach and you'll be a few dozen feet away from the fireworks show.

Best answer: I was just about to ask this, because I haven't found a master list of proper fireworks displays either, even though there must be one.
Here's the Parks calendar with everything that mentions "fireworks" through the end of August, which isn't exhaustive.
There's some tonight at Pier 54, according to fireworksguide.com, which is otherwise sort of useless.
I had high hopes for this, but it only goes through June.
Did you try calling 311?

The Summerstage concerts in Central Park pretty much all end with fireworks just as you describe all summer long. We can see them from the fire escape at the back of our apartment.

I'll ping her to update that list. She's the only one I know of that's consolidating all of the fireworks displays since they're associated with so many different events in NYC.

Best answer: I've wondered this too. There's at least a partial listing on the 311 website.
But depending on where you are in the city, remember that NYC may not be the permitting jurisdiction. There are tons of fireworks in Jersey City, some permitted by the city, some by the state for Liberty State Park. Hoboken has them sometimes, too.

Someone should have notified the Staten Island Ferry workers about the South Street Seaport fireworks last night; they had a few anxious moments before the source of the noise was discovered, and then the boat was delayed until it was over. But we had excellent seats for the free fireworks show.
