How long do traffic tickets stay on your record?

I need get an idea of when my record is completely clear for insurance purposes.

In California, it's 3-10 years depending upon the offense.

In Massachusetts, it's 7 years for a "moving violation", i.e. a police officer stops you. No insurance difference for lesser violations like parking tickets.

Many insurance companies search records for the past 3 years at random, although they may go back further, especially if they find stuff on your 3 year record.

by "at random," I mean they do not audit all policyholders every year.
