Help me find a video of the classic Dukes of Hazzard cliche
June 5, 2010 8:53 AM

The Dukes of Hazzard was known for its cliffhangers before commercials, where they usually freeze-frame a stunt and narrator/"balladeer" Waylon Jennings says something like, "Them duke boys are sure gonna have a hard time getting out of this one!" Help me find an example of this scene online.

There are full episodes of Dukes on YouTube, but I'm stunned I haven't been able to find an example after looking through a bunch! The Internet is failing me, please help.

I found a couple more of the outros, but none have the stereotypical "them Duke boys" speech. I'm wondering if it ever actually existed, or was invented after the show.

No, I remember it too. I don't have access to Youtube (internet connection is too slow) so I can't find one for you, but I remember it as well.

Per Wikipedia: "Note that these freeze frame cliffhangers were often abridged in showings in some countries, such as the commercial-free BBC in the United Kingdom."

Too, though I haven't seen them, reviews of the DVD sets mention that there was significant editing when they were rebroadcast on TNT etc, to fit modern commercial schedules. Which is a roundabout way of saying that maybe the YouTube videos were captured from modern, abbreviated cable reruns. Apparently they are included in the DVDs.

Assume you've tried this but did you ask over at the Confederate General Lee Fan Club? Seems like a really active forum and if it exists, they know about it.

It definitely existed. (I don't know where to find them online, but as a devoted watcher of the original in its original broadcast and in syndication, I can confirm these were a real thing.)
