Looking for a UK IMAP host

Looking for personal IMAP/web hosting; must be UK (and not Google)

Can anyone recommend a hosted email provider in the UK? Looking to pay £20-£40 pa for someone to manage a (UK) domain name and provide a 150-200MB IMAP inbox with good uptime. Very basic static web hosting on the domain would also be nice.

This isn't for a business, but I run my life through email so a decent service would be good.

(UK companies very much preferred, not least because they're in the same time zone, and are covered by uk law. For irrelevant reasons I don't want to use Gmail or other Google hosting services, so please don't suggest them.)

Best answer: My ISP is Namesco, which is a UK company offering a range of internet services. I've always had great service from them (I've been with them for about 7 or 8 years now).

http://purplecloud.net/ get my recommendation as I have used them for years for a couple of .me.uk domains.

Response by poster: I'm actually moving away from purplecloud (after 7 years) because their service is getting quite unreliable.

I use Virtual Names. It's worked well for me for the last few years, and I've got no complaints.

http://www.emailthatworks.net/ meet your requirements except the "UK" part.

I've heard good things about Mythic Beasts generally but not used them for this specific purpose.

Best answer: I use vidahost, and they seem fine. I've not tried their email services, but the internet hosting is good. They seem to be quick to reply to things etc. I've not tried contacting a human myself but noone seems angry at them; and they do seem to encourage you to contact them. It sounds like the basic package for £17/year would suit you (can't tell from a quick look if that include the domain name or not)

That's a shame Luddite, although I must admit the 'ole dublin.purplecloud.com server is showing its age.

Best answer: I'm very happy with TSO Hosting, their support is super quick and it's cheap at £14/year + registration charge. And if you are geeky they have all the bolt-ons you could want.

Response by poster: Thanks all. I think mythic beasts win because they seem to know what they're doing.

For the benefit of anyone reading this, I just got an email from purplecloud saying that they're winding down their business - so definitely don't sign up with them!
