Film Production Expense Report Suggestions?

What's a good tool for keeping track of expenses on a film production?

I'm producing a feature documentary, and I need an excel template (or equivalent) that will allow me to add expenses to all the different departments as they roll in, and then display them as a summary.

What's confusing me is that I want to have multiple entries for each category, because there will be multiple expenditures for that department over time. For example, I'll buy office supplies every two weeks, but I want to be able to just enter "March 23rd, $14.50" and let the template do the math.

Any suggestions?

There is professional software that does this such as Movie Magic Budgeting and Gorilla. Are you looking for a cheaper solution?

There's lots of expense tracking programs for the iphone. They can usually output to Excel as well.
