What is the cheapest way to get from Cologne to Seville at the end of March?

I am open to travel by land or by air. Sketchy carpool travel with strangers is also included in the list of transportation methods I am open to as long as it gets me from Cologne, Germany to Seville, Spain and back.

The absolute cheapest way (leaving out carpooling as I can't accurately estimate how much you would have to contribute in petrol costs) would be by bus. Try http://www.eurolines.com.

Or try hitchhiking.

Iberia has round-trip flights from Frankfurt to Seville for $331/243 Euros.
Air Berlin has them from Dusseldorf for $315/230 Euros if you're flexible on dates. The train fares are twice that, and a sample round-trip bus fare that I checked was also 240some Euros, so flying does not seem so expensive.

BTW, I found those fares on kayak.com.

Using touring.de (eurolines germany), go from Koln to Paris for 55-80 euros roundtrip, depending on the fare class. Then on eurolines.fr I found Paris to Madrid for as little as 55 euros roundtrip. Finally, the fare from Madrid to Seville is about 20 euros, using secorbus.es. That's as little as 130 euros, but it would be a long trip.

Ryanair has roundtrip from Dusseldorf to Seville for as little as 160 euros, depending on your date. But be careful with Ryanair (lots of extra fees, such as for more than 10kg of luggage). You can also try flying out from Malaga instead, which is less than a 20 euro bus ride from Seville. I found flights from Malaga to Dusseldorf for just 30 euros. There are also flights from Seville to Frankfurt for 15 euros. Since I don't know your exact dates, you'll have to do this yourself-- just play around on Ryanair.com, which makes it very easy to be flexible with dates. It should be quite cheap to get from Koln to Dusseldorf or Frankfurt. Furthermore, hitchhiking is extremely painless in Germany. If you're on a schedule, I wouldn't recommend hitchhiking across France and Spain-- while hitchhiking is easy there, it might be difficult to actually get across both countries in a reasonable amount of time.
