Why is the sound on my Palm turning itself off?

The sound on my Palm Tungsten E switches randomly on and off. I'll set an alarm, test and hear it, but by the time it goes off, my Palm has decided to go silent. Under preferences / sounds and alerts everything is set to high. My battery level is fine. Even though I can't hear anything through the palm's speaker, if I plug in headphones, there's sound. Then, a few hours later, the sound comes back. I'm not sure, but I think it happens mostly at night, so I'm wondering if there's some hidden "switch sound off after 8pm" setting somewhere.

I hate to suggest something so obvious, but maybe it's a loose wire. You might want to do some experiments (e.g. set the alarm to go off once an hour) to find out if it's really just at night or if it happens randomly. If it's random, it's probably a bad electrical connection.

Response by poster: breath: you're right, it lloks like a loose wire. If I shake it, bot even very hard, the sound goes on and off.
