Best spots for quad skating in Brooklyn/NYC?

What are the best spots for quad roller skating in NYC? Particularly in Brooklyn and particularly during the winter, when the Dreamland Rink on Coney Island is closed?

I've had some success with the skate circle in Central Park where the Central Park Dance Skaters Association holds public skates in the summer. There are also a couple of spots in Prospect Park with nice, smooth asphalt and not a lot of traffic. But I'd love to know if there are other spots I should try.

Also, if anyone's been to RollerJam USA on Staten Island, I'd be interested to hear about it -- is it worth 2+ hours on public transit?

You could try calling the Gotham Girls Roller Derby hotline ((888) 830-2253) and see if they have any suggestions.

Best answer: Unfortunately, most of the indoor venues are long gone. Lezley (whom you may know if you've spent much time with the CPDSA) organizes a Wed. night skate at the Salvation Army in Bed-Stuy. The floor is pretty good, too. Much smoother than the Roxy was.

Their web page seems to be vacant at the moment, but google "Crazy Legs Skate Club" or Lezley Ziering for more info. Or DM me with your email and I'll forward you one of their flyers.

Did a little poking around on their website and besides Dreamland, RollerJam USA and Riverbank Skate Park (which looks to be ice in the winter), they reference "Crazy Legs Skate Club", whose cached website reveals it to be at The Salvation Army Bldg. 110 Kosciuszko St., Brooklyn, NY 11216 (their actual website now doesn't show anything).

Response by poster: The "Crazy Legs Skate Club" is news to me and would be pretty easy to get to on pubtrans -- thanks for the heads up, I'll have to drop Lezley a line and see if she's still organizing it!
