Is a 12-cell netbook batttery a good deal?

I need a replacement battery for my Asus 1000HE netbook. I've been looking on Ebay, and it looks like they have some 12-cell batteries, whereas the original I got was (I think) 6. Does anybody have one of these, to know whether they're a good deal, how much bulk they add to the computer, etc?

I've got the same Asus you do, and I've found the folks over at the eee User Forums to be very helpful.
Search around this 1000x specific area and if this question isn't answered, then ask away!

Highly recommend.

I had a 12-cell for my previous HP laptop. It does add a bit of weight and bulk and makes the laptop slant (which is actually more ergonomic, I think). It started off with a great battery life, about 6-7hrs of normal use w/ wifi on; less if playing video; more if wi-fi turned off. As with all laptop batteries, its life slowly decayed to normal 6-cell levels and then pretty much nothing.

One thing to make sure of: some laptops are designed differently depending on whether you order them with the 6 or 12 cell batteries from the mfr; if you have a 6-cell laptop a 12-cell might not actually fit your model. Just be sure to check.

As a student, I found the extra life to be really useful (no need to bring a power cord to campus with me), but now that I mostly use my computer in my apartment, it's not really necessary.
