Of the day

I'm looking for "____ of the day/week/month" sites that are not the typical word or quotation of the day sites. Something that could really get me thinking. Please recommend your favorites.

Astronomical Picture of the Day (aka APOD) is usually interesting, and often beautiful. Often some bonus related science to ponder.

Or did you only want interesting word/quotation sites? Not sure.

There are a bunch of different diary projects on line, day-by-day. I did a post about some of them several years ago. At least Pepys and The Diary of a Nobody are still at it.
