Baltimore shuttles

Baltimore filter: What do you know about the free shuttles in Baltimore?

I'm temporarily staying in Harbor East for a while and there's a bike co-op up near Penn Station that I'd mainly like to get to from time to time.

So I know about the JHU shuttle, but I'm temporarily staying at Harbor East for the time and unfortunately, that shuttle doesn't reach downtown. The collegetown shuttle that does go downtown seems to have stopped running (end of the semester).

I also know that the Charm City Circulator is on...uh, hiatus, however, I do recall something about a Harbor East shuttle that runs in the early AM and during afternoon rush hour. I'm having trouble finding information on it online however. Does anyone know where I can get more information on this? Or any other shuttles?

Thanks in advance.

Your best bet is to walk over to Charles and take the 64 bus. I'm not aware of any shuttles that run that route.

Response by poster: Oh, and to clarify, although I am primarily interested in the downtown to Penn Station route, I'm also curious to know about all and any of the shuttle services that Baltimore might provide.

Doesn't the JHU Homewood-to-hospital shuttle stop at Peabody? I seem to remember that from years ago, although that might have changed.

Yeah, the JHMI shuttle stops at Peabody (across from the monument). They're relatively relaxed about checking student IDs. The shuttle stops at Penn Station and Homewood, and then loops back to the med campus. Should run every day except Christmas and New Year's Day.

The city bus is also an option. I haven't heard of anyone getting beaten up / shot / stabbed on the bus lately... Then again, I moved away in May, and the national media seems not to really cover the "greatest city in America."

@sperose: What you linked to is actually the escort van service. This is very much limited to current students, and only operates in a 1-mile radius around the Homewood campus.

Here's a link to the JHMI shuttle, which is likely to be more useful to the OP.

In terms of individual bus lines, the 11 is likely a better bet than the 64, since it runs down Fleet Street to Canton. Though walking over to Charles Street significantly increases your odds of getting a bus, since the 11, the 3, and the 61 (weekdays) all run up Charles, in addition to the 64.

The JHU and Collegetown shuttles are the only free ones I'm aware of in Baltimore, and I don't know how strict the Collegetown shuttle is about checking IDs. You could try asking at the Downtown Partnership about shuttle options, though.

It's a damn shame this isn't up and running yet.
