Pop concert ticket help needed!
December 2, 2009 6:34 PM
Pop rock meets little sisters filter: I would like to buy my two teenage sisters tickets to a pop concert for Christmas. Ticketmaster is not being helpful and I can't seem to find anything useful in too-much-info alt-weekly.
I'm looking for Salt Lake City area pop music tickets (think Taylor Swift, David Archuleta, Jonas Brother types). I'm would like to spend in the 30-50 dollar range for each of their tickets in the January-March 2010 time frame. They are both under 21 so bars are out of the picture.
I'm looking to create a Christmas mini-miracle here! Thanks for any help.

The only person on the list you mention who is even playing close to Salt Lake City is Taylor Swift who plays in Denver on April 6th and 7th. Tickets on the website are sold out though. I looked through eventful listing from January 1 - March 31, didn't see anything that matched your criteria.

this will probably be more difficult than you think. Taylor Swift tickets sell out in about two minutes (really), so you have to buy from resellers and they cost way more than $50.
Here is my suggestion: promise them tickets to the American Idol Summer Tour. Idol starts soon after Christmas, so they will have 7 or 8 months of excitement before it happens. Tickets last year ranged from $40 to $70. The dates last year were here: http://mjsbigblog.com/american-idol-2009-summer-tour-dates-announced.htm
There was a date in West Valley City, UT.
You should ask them what music they like. Perhaps they're into some other, smaller bands?

Are there any all-ages venues in SLC? Maybe you could take them to a show by a local band. My 14-year-old daughter would get a HUGE kick out of that and be Queen of Junior High for a day even if she didn't know the band.

I guess I will just start trolling the local venues for something all ages- thanks for the suggestions everyone. I guess the period after Christmas is kind of a dead zone!

Similarly, if they watch "So You Think You Can Dance", that tour will be sooner, since it is in the middle of airing now. Maybe in March/April, with tickets going on sale in Dec/Jan.
