Looking for a free videoconferencing client that would work from behind a firewall, if any exist. Also, can you recommend a decent webcam? Thanks.

Krrrlson,

Unless your looking at super high end dedicated terminals, its actually amazing how immature the videoconferencing field seems to be.

I've been doing some research into this and believe it or not, the free IM clients offer some of the best functionality. Yahoo can tunnel the entire session through its servers if both boxes are behind NAT's. Additionally, AIM and MSN will work fine if at least one client has an accessible outside port.

While not free, if your on win32, the new Trillian 3.0 provides an interface to all the various services video conferencing, in addition to a more professional interface and some extra features. Its not expensive and may be what your looking for.

Too further inflate the post count on this thread :-)

The above mentioned Trillian is iChat compatible.

(Now you can put on a fake goatee, borrow some cats to run around in the background, and pretend that your a Mac user)
