I need an authoritative listing of the world's seaports (by country) or failing that, a list of the number of seaports by country. Exhaustive searching has only turned up inaccurate/incomplete lists and I can't seem to find one on the IMO website either. Any ideas?

Have you tried portaid.com?

Does Wikipedia help here?

Response by poster: Unfortunately, Wikipedia doesn't help. Portaid looks OK, but I would have to supplement it with non-container ports. I'm guessing, though not certain, that these ports are all deep water/Panamax ports. I'm also looking for ports that say, a pleasure yacht could use.

World Port Source.

Best answer: World Port Source grabs a lot of its information from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's
World Port Index, which has even more ports listed.
