Zapf Elliptical, I think, but I don't know for sure what logo you're referring to. Can you give us an image?

Response by poster: Rails: http://rubyonrails.org/images/rails.png

Ruby: http://www.rubyinside.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/ruby-logo.jpg

Have you tried using WhatTheFont! with a cropped, bigger version of the typography?

Well, the font on the plain Ruby logo is Goudy Bold - you can tell because of the super-stubby descender on the lower-case "y." The other one I don't know off the top of my head.

The Rails logo looks kinda like a rounded-off verision of Test Pilot Collective's Mechanical

Not sure. But I did some research and it appears that the Rails logo was designed by John Hicks.

If you're looking for something similar, the Base fonts form emigre are pretty close.

Also Neo Tech.
