Allergyfilter: Need recommendations for a dustproof pillow cover.

I used to have a dustproof pillow cover, but a couple years ago, we got a king sized bed with king sized pillows, and I haven't bothered to get a dustproof pillow cover sized for king sized pillows.

One of the things I never liked about my pillow cover in the past was the "crackly" stiff fabric. It made noise and crackled when I moved my head, sort of like a muffled paper bag.

Can anyone recommend a brand of dustproof pillow cover that isn't "crackly" like this? Do they exist, or is it simply the nature of the dustproof covering?

Best answer: Dust mite covers frequently have plastic layers, which may be causing your crackliness.

I recently bought this mattress encasement, which is 100% tightly woven cotton. They also make pillow encasements. Not crackly at all. As an alternative, you might consider a pillow with an integrated dust cover. I just got one of these and it's very nice- a lot firmer than down pillows usually are.

I bought a dust cover at Target for my pillow. It isn't crackly, although they have those too. I think it works well and is not noticeable.
