Outlook 2003 user here-- is there a way to open .doc attachments in print layout, instead of (what I consider useless) reading layout?

...again in Word, not in Outlook:
- Click the round Office icon (the top left), then select "Word Options" at the bottom right of the menu.
- In the Word Options dialog, select "Advanced" from the left hand menu, and then in the "Advanced options for working with Word" dialog on the right hand side, scroll down to the section headed "General".
- You should see an option called "Allow opening a document in Draft view". Uncheck it.

In MS Word, use Tools > Options > General, and uncheck "Allow starting in Reading layout".
