Any personal suggestions for a free service that would spider a website and return a comprehensive site map? (more inside)
Group I'm with wants to work with university with a large website - would a free tool online fit the bill and save us from blindly clicking through the site?

Astra Site Manager does this. It's not free, but it's shareware, so you could "try" it and see if it does what you want.

Not free, but you might already have it: Microsoft's Visio will produce a site map when given a URL.
Results aren't great, though.
