there are no real jobs on craigslist!

I'm a full-time film editor and occasional composer in Vancouver, about to move to Toronto. My main work has been TV movies and short films. Because I don't have a job lined up there, I'll need to network. I also enjoy collaborating, and would love to make some new acquaintances -- I don't know many people in TO. Can anyone think of resources, groups, or organizations in Toronto that might help me achieve these goals?

Long time reader (8 years), first time poster. I'm late 20s and male, if that's relevant.

First Weekend Club is national, and is more about promoting film to audiences than creating it, but it is fairly Toronto-centric from what I gather and the people involved are no doubt people with interest similar to yours. It'll help you keep up to date with what's hot in indie film, anyway.

I've seen some related networking groups on linkedin.com, and it's free to join.

LIFT - http://www.lift.on.ca/
Volunteer for the CFC barbeque or other events like TIFF.
Find someone on Craigslist looking for help on their project and network that way.
Other, more successful Mefites will likely chime in with more ideas.
