One Man's Account of playing Solitaire blindfolded

Looking for good blogs, sites, or articles about video game playthroughs.

The post about Homeless Sims led me into the world of video game playthrough blogs, and I would like to see more. However I can't seem to find any good ones, or maybe I have the wrong search terms for my google.

I would prefer playthroughs that are well-written, humorous, and accessible to those who don't own the game. Text is very much preferred to video. I especially like ones where an external limit or objective is placed on the gameplay.

Examples from the post:
Living in Oblivion: making it through Oblivion like an NPC
Galactic Civilization Playthrough and Second Galactic Civilization Playthrough

GameSpot
The content is user provided, so you'll get a good variety of text walkthroughs. I know I've read some funny ones, but I don't remember the game(s) for which they were written.

um - he's not looking for faqs, he's looking for blogs about playing through a game like the homeless sims.

Most of the really, truly good playthroughs I've seen are part of the Let's Play effort which seems to have originated with Something Awful.

I was just going to suggest Let's Play. For instance the Dwaft Fortress playthrough Boatmurdered is excellent (what I've read so far). No all Let's Plays are good though, filter as you go.

Oh, I remembered just as I clicked post: Bastard of the Old Republic part 1, part 2, part 3 about playing Knights of the Old Republic as evil as possible.

Also slightly related The Great Scam, one person's account of how he scammed loads and loads of people in EVE.

The saga of Boatmurdered is one of the funniest things I have ever read.

Sorry! I was thinking of walkthroughs. :(

Yeah, definitely not looking for a walkthrough; perhaps "playthrough" is the wrong term for what I am looking for. Bastard of the Old Republic is great, especially since I played the hell out of KoTOR but couldn't bring myself to be bad.

P.S. I are a girl.

The Let's Play Archive is exactly what you're looking for.

I'm partial to video playthroughs myself, but Animal Crossing is a must-read.

Malorie's Alone in the Dark video plays of Alone in the Dark 1 and 2 are great.
Leovinus did a pretty funny Final Fantasy 8 screenshot LP.
Grim Fandango The Movie is just brilliant.

The Resident Evil games are great for giving you a sense of the game and the weird stories in the games. Similarly, I really liked the Silent Hill screenshot LPs, and the video playthrough of Origins. I'm a wuss for horror games.

Also probably worth looking into: I've heard great things about Giant Bomb's playthrough of Persona 4.

I enjoy the playthroughs for Deus Ex, Thief and System Shock at www.it-he.com. There's a lot of funny stuff on that site...

I know you said you prefer text to video, but it should be mentioned that if you search YouTube for "let's play" plus a game name, there's a good chance you can find stuff in the same vein, some are quite awesome!

Loved agentjr's Silent Hill LPs.

You probably already know about this, and it doesn't quite fit your parameters, but the Speed Demos Archive is the place to go for videos of time-constrained playthroughs of video games.

Most videos are accompanied a narrative description of the player's techniques. The text isn't usually all that accessible to people who haven't played the game, but might serve as an interesting counterpoint to other descriptions of the game.

Yeah, that Animal crossing story is bugfuck genius.

The fellows over at Rock, Paper, Shotgun (who did the Bastard of the Old Republic playthrough) have started a new piece, this time a Morrowind playthrough called A Fool in Morrowind. Intro, Intro #2, Day 1: Trousers, Day 2: Granny (they've only just begun).

And Robin Burkinshaw (who did that Homeless Sims thing) also did a piece for RPS about playing through Dwarf Fortress.
