How best to prepare for a donut-eating competition this weekend?

So my roommates signed me up for a donut-devouring competition at the semi-local Fractured Prune this weekend. I don't have any driving need to win first prize donut-glutton or anything, but I'd like to make a decent showing and not get knocked out after a measly 8 donuts. Anyone know of some things one could do to prepare for the event, five days from now? Switch to eating one gigantic meal a day, to stretch the stomach? Do a bunch of calisthenics right before the event, to drive up my hunger? I'm figuring there's no healthy way to approach a donut-eating contest, but things that minimize the anti-healthiness would be nice too.

Response by poster: I saw that one, and it seemed to be mostly advice on how to tackle the task itself, and not what to do with the week beforehand to improve odds. I did like the concept of high-volume eating in prep, and then having nothing but lots of water the day before, and juice after - that *sounds* like something that might work. Is there any actual evidence that it would, or training regiment-type things that compare? I may have to watch Taxidermia again to prepare as well... heh.

Best answer: Paul Constant of The Stranger describes his (successful) preparation for an eating competition here.

Best answer: Stomach stretching with low cal, high bulk foods like cabbage.

Soak the food to help it collapse and go down faster.

Chew just enough to be able to swallow (chewing takes time).

Don't overfill your mouth (make chewing less efficient).

Response by poster: That 'Stranger' article is pretty excellent, thanks! I think I'm going to try stretching out with giant bowls of pho and loads of sprouts - both things I love far more than cabbage, and I'm generally able to overfill myself to the point that I feel like a giant walking wineskin full of soup. I'll just have to get it every day, maybe even twice a day if I feel like a madman. Hmmm...
