Rehoboth Beach over in Delaware was always purported to be gay-friendly when I was growing up (late 80s, early 90s), but I don't know whether that's still the case or not. Chincoteague and Assateague are both appealing if you like a sort of quiet beachtown vibe, but I can't speak to their same-sex accommodations. posted by el_lupino at 7:50 PM on May 1, 2009

Rehoboth is still very gay-friendly. It is in no way quiet or peaceful, though, if that's important to you :) posted by kalimac at 7:52 AM on May 2, 2009
Thanks but I should have mentioned that we've been to Rehoboth a lot. I'm looking for something different. It doesn't have to be a gay "destination," just an interesting town. posted by Morrigan at 10:23 AM on May 2, 2009
Berin, MD. Cute, small town, tasty food places, nice local shopping. Leans towards the artsy, if you are into plays and music performances. posted by 8dot3 at 12:54 PM on May 2, 2009
Also, I do not know if you are into vintage clothing or antiques, but if you are, I can recommend a few places in random towns within a 30 minute drive of Berlin and Rehoboth, as well. Let me know if that is appealing at all. posted by 8dot3 at 9:50 AM on May 3, 2009
8dot3, absolutely, absolutely.
Especially mid-century nonsense or deco. That's just what we are looking for. posted by Morrigan at 8:14 PM on May 3, 2009
