Setting up weird-news email alert for just OR and WA?

How can I set up an automatic email notification thing for news-of-the-weird type stuff as it happens in Oregon and Washington (not DC)? Google alerts doesn't seem this customizable. CNN news alerts do, maybe. Any other options?

If you can find one or more RSS feeds with the content you're looking for then feedblitz.com will provide a (still free, I think?) RSS-to-email gateway to alert you when the feed changes. And there are undoubtedly other gateways out there.

I believe Yahoo Pipes can help you set an RSS feed if you can't find a ready-made one.
