Why does only Cool Whip make my teeth throb?

I used to have a little bit of cold sensitivity, but not so much anymore. Also, I used to eat Cool Whip more frequently (my Grandmother made pies with it) but whenever my mouth comes into contact with it, the same thing happens - my teeth throb as if I had cold sensitivity and was drinking or eating something ridiculously cold. I've been able to identify the presence of this whipped topping at least twice where it was pretty well hidden due to this.

No other product (though I suppose generic "whipped topping" might do the same - I've never had it) does this, nor does the temperature of foods affect my teeth in any significant way.

Also, I've seen the post regarding aspartame and artificial sweetener and I have never encountered the same thing, as much as I try to stay away from the stuff altogether.

Cool Whip: WATER, CORN SYRUP, HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL (COCONUT AND PALM KERNEL OILS), HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, LESS THAN 2% OF SODIUM CASEINATE (FROM MILK), NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, XANTHAN AND GUAR GUMS, POLYSORBATE 60, SORBITAN MONOSTEARATE, BETA CAROTENE (COLOR).

Reddi Whip, which we use here: CREAM, NONFAT MILK, CORN SYRUP, SUGAR, MONO/DIGLYCERIDES, NAT/ART FLAVORS.

Differentiating the ingredients and identifying specifically which products/brands do not have that effect for you would be the first step. Maybe it's something to do with the oil or gums.

Hm. Interesting. I've had exactly the same reaction to whatever it is that Safeway is topping their bakery donuts with for frosting. The first time it happened I honestly thought there was something wrong with me and I would be visiting the dentist, but within a few minutes, the feeling vanished. Felt like cold, achey, GOD THIS HURTS type feeling. Wrote it off as a weird one-off thing, and went on my way. A few months later, had another Safeway bakery donut, had exactly the same thing happen. Stopped eating, threw it away. Feeling went away again after a minute or two. Haven't had one from Safeway since, and that was like 2 years ago, and I have never before or since experienced that feeling.

Any correlation between the two substances other than probably corn syrup/HCFS?
