Skindle

I bought a Kindle 2. Amazon lists a paltry selection of covers and skins. I want a good one.

I drop things, a lot. Sometimes I spill things. I've got an Otterbox for my iPhone and love it, but don't necessarily need something quite so rugged. Mostly, I want to use my Kindle all the time, but don't want it to get grimy, worn or ragged.

Based on your Kindle 1 experiences, what is the best brand of skin or case to get for my device?

I had a Kindle 1, the included book cover worked well. Looks like they're going the Apple route and aren't bundling that accessory anymore.

BTW, I wouldn't get anything to cover the screen, that might reduce the readibility.

M-Edge is launching two products (available for pre-purchase) for the Kindle 2, the Executive Jacket and the Platform. Each is available for $29.99 in synthetic leather (or $44 for real leather).

They both look cool and are both compatible with the e-Luminator, which lets Kindle readers use the device in low-light environments.

For covers, Oberon Design are so insanely cool I can hardly describe it. I'm not a skin kinda guy, but the people I know who are into skins like DecalGirl

Response by poster: Just so everyone knows, I ended up going with the Patagonia case. I don't mean for this to be blog spam, but I wrote quite a bit about it here.

I later purchased a DecalGirl skin kit for extra stain-fighting power, and review it at length here.

I hope this information is valuable to other Kindle 2 owners. If you've been holding off on the Kindle, you're seriously missing out on a fine and enjoyable reading experience.

Thanks, and thanks to everyone who contributed to the discussion. I'm closing the thread now, but if you have any questions, fire me a message.
