Here's a Cookie and an Introduction. Enjoy Your Stay!

Can you help me find some examples of sites with "Looks like it's your first time here" messages?

I'm looking for some examples of websites that display messages along the lines of "Looks like this is your first time here... would you like some help getting started?" whenever it is detected that it is a user's first visit. (Generally through the use of cookies, I'd imagine.)

Googling for things like "looks like it's your first time here" or "first visit message" has given me some good results, but I'm really looking for bigger-name sites that might do this. Retail sites, in particular, would be lovely.

A couple of examples, in case my description wasn't clear:

(I know those look SEO-happy, but I swear they're not mine. This question is legitimate, I promise.)

Thanks! Sorry if this has been axed before, google mefi search makes dupe-sniffing harder.

Best answer: Facebook does it. It also notifies your first few friends that you're new and asks them to help introduce you to the site.

Best answer: Get Rich Slowly has a message like that. It looks like a good way to invite new users to check out his "about me" page.

Best answer: The NIH awards made database, CRISP does this intercept on first visit, but this is just a temporary thing because of the transition to a new interface.
