History of HD at the Olympics?

How has HD television been used in past Olympics?

The Beijing Olympics was the crowning achievement of HD -- full coverage available to all markets. What incremental uses preceded this, at specific Olympics, as HD gained traction?

When was the first use of any kind? What benchmarks where achieved along the way?

1988 "The first HDTV broadcast of the Olympic Games in Seoul."
2002 "First official, international joint HDTV production executed at the Salt Lake City."
2004 "First international joint HTDV production for the summer Olympic games."


and:

"The 1988 Seoul Olympics were broadcast in HDTV to television sets at 81 public sites in Japan..."
