I am looking for something completely awesome to do in NYC on January 17 or 18 for <$500. Anything goes!

eat the prix-fixe menu at jean-georges - www.jean-georges.com for details ... it definitely qualifies as fancy

jean georges - after a genuinely too long amount of time I have worked out how to link - oh the humanity

Take me to Per Se. That would be awesome.

I third Per Se - though you might spend more than $500 depending on your wine taste!

Helicopter ride over Manhattan?

$275? For one dinner? For that, I could have ten awesome meals in NYC.

Sadly, Per Se books their reservations 2 months in advance. :(

Response by poster: I do already have our meals planned (including Jean-Georges!) but am looking for other, non-food activities.

Best answer:
Famous Fat Dave's Five Borough Eating Tour On The Wheels of Steel. It ain't Per Se, but it is hardcore NYC. $450 for 4.5 hours.

oops. on preview, you said other non-food activities. you could do the all-dessert tour, however.

Not exactly NY, but go to the Nightmare of You show in Hoboken on the 17th, and the view of NY from Hoboken is breathtaking at night. And then you still have ~$470 to spend on any of the other suggestions here.

here's the link for the Nightmare of You show venue.

Go to a spa, I'm sure there is some funky Japanese ritual spa somewhere, this account of the Cornelia Day Spa sounds interesting. Looks like you could blow big money there easily . . .

try looking at the nonsense nyc board - it's low rent stuff but they've usually got something for everyone

Response by poster: Thanks! We did Famous Fat Dave's tour and it was great. Highly recommended!
