Where do we go for New Year's in Toronto?

Hi hivemind,

My girlfriend and I are new to Toronto, and we're looking for a restaurant/bar/whatever to go for New Year's. She wants a place that has a live band and to which she can wear a cocktail dress. Unfortunately, New Year's is approaching fast and we've still got no idea where such a place might be. Any suggestions?

One other issue - we live near York University and have no car, so someplace near the subway would be ideal.

Oh damn. Well, since there've been no responses to the other one and that author kinda nixed his own thread, I feel justified in my totally intentional and reasoned double-post. Yep.
