What rank did Sean Connery achieve in the Royal Navy?

I find lots of mentions that Connery joined the Navy and was discharged after three years for health reasons. What rank was he when he became discharged?

Best answer: Several references suggest that his final posting was as Able Seaman aboard the HMS Formidable (e.g. International Stars at War).
