Please help me identify this architect

My dad wants to know the name of an architect he saw on television. Details are fuzzy except that he wears an eyepatch and that he designed a house overlooking the California coast.
The house seems very intriguing to me, hence this AskMe question. The house itself seems to have a swimming pool under and/or around it. The front door is connected to the living room by a bridge surrounded by the pool. Sorry I can't be more specific but I hope you can offer any leads -- a link to photographs of the house would also be ideal. Many thanks.

Are you sure he designed the entire house and not just the pool? I vaguely remember something on TV about Dale Chihuly designing some sort of amazing swimming pool.

Is this the pool your father remembers? If so, then you're definitely talking Chihuly.

Response by poster: Nope, that's not it either. From my dad:
The pool is actually like a moat that goes around the house; the main pool is at the back of the house facing the pacific, it has a fire pit too. From the street entrance, you wouldn't see the house, but once you enter the pedestrian gate you will see that you go thorugh a narrow walkway to the front entrance of the house itself, the pool goes under that walkway and you can jump into the pool from that walk way too and swim around the house to the main pool area and the pacific is there -- its an infinity pool btw.
