Louisiana Filter:When was the registration of birth certificates required?

In what year were official birth certificates required to be registered for people born in Louisiana?

I've googled my way to no definitive answer to this question. When did birth certificates become a requirement for births in the state of Louisiana? (Also, how did you find out this date?)

Best answer: Statewide requirement was 1914, although individual parishes and cities began earlier (New Orleans in 1790). First I googled "louisiana birth records required". I saw that the availability seemed to start in 1914 (this site says "1914-present Birth records") so I added "1914" to the earlier search string. Several of the results say record availability starts at July 1914, but the above link had the best explanation of when the requirements started and where.
