iTunes is not listening to me

My iTunes has a mind of its own. It keeps restarting even though I quit the program every time. What is wrong with it?
I have Mac OSX and iTunes 7.6 installed. Pretty recently (a day or so ago) I quit iTunes because I try to minimise the programs running on my computer if I'm not using them. After around a minute it started itself up without any input from me at all, and after this, however many times I try to close it iTunes always restarts.
It's starting to creep me out. Help?

If you're running an RSS reader in the background, you might have the option "import all audio into iTunes" checked. Took me a while to figure out with NetNewsReader.

The Last.FM client will do this too, when it's open.

Best answer: I have the same problem. I narrowed it down to being the iscrobbler apllication I was running so I could scrobble my iphone on last.fm. If I end the itunes process in task manager (not useful for you though as im a windows user) it doesn't come back.

Thirding the last.fm/iscrobbler plugin. I have a window that pops up, telling me that the plugin is still working and allowing me to force-quit, but if I let it quit on its own, iTunes pops back up.

Response by poster: I tried force quitting iTunes once and now it's back to normal. Thanks!

Just for future reference, I had this problem with a Yahoo widget (used to be Konfabulator, before Yahoo bought them out) - just about any widget that controls iTunes would re-start it, so I'd have to close Yahoo Widgets first.
