Someone to fix my chimney

ChicagoMasonryFilter: A recent windstorm knocked the cover and some masonry off my chimney. My regular tuckpoint/masonry guys won't fix it-- they say the job's too small. Anyone know a reliable service that can repair this? Thanks.

Well, if you like your regular guys I'd give them one last shot - perhaps with a message that if they think the job is too small and you have to go with someone else perhaps the new people will become your regular guys.

As to some actual recommendations: Walter Grzebieniak & Son tuckpointing did very nice work on our facade, and Star Tuckpointing did good work on the side of the house. Star will likely be slightly cheaper. Alternatively you could go with a roofer who does a bit of masonry - they are probably used to pricing smaller jobs like roof leaks.

Annoying when the regular guys turn you down. Ask them if they can recommend a company that will do smaller work, they should know who else is in the field locally, I've often been surprised by what people will tell me when I ask directly.
