Any cafes in LA that also serve booze?

When I was in Madison, WI there was this awesome coffee shop that sold booze at night. So I would write there during the day and come back later at night and be able to enjoy a beer while I wrote.

Are there any places in LA, especially on the Westside, where I can go enjoy a beer and still have a laid back cafe atmosphere suitable for writing?

not the west side, but banquette cafe & wine bar in downtown los angeles (near 4th and main) would fit this bill. as would lost souls cafe, just a half-block up 4th.

This isn't quite what you're looking for, but The Waffle in Hollywood is a diner with a lounge/bar on the top floor. I've heard mixed things about it, but it might be worth a try.

Well, there's the Overland Cafe right around the corner here, but that's more of a restaurant atmosphere. Aside from that, any restaurant that doesn't serve booze in LA county, I've been told, is BYOB.
