Help me find this life-sucking song

Songfilter: Big band/swing song, female vocals, all about why life sucks.

I think it's the closing theme of a movie, maybe a dark comedy? Swing-y song, alto female voice.

I can only remember the gist of the lyrics, but it was to how life sucks what "Ironic" is to irony (or not): it listed many ways in which life sucked. Sort of a darker Frank Sinatra's "That's Life". I loved it. Help me find it!

Some background on the song, that is if Is That All There Is is it.

Perhaps you are thinking of Que Sera Sera -- which more of a who-knows-what-the-future may-bring kind of a song -- it was the opening and closing theme of "Heathers." The opening was the chipper Peggy Lee version, I believe, but the Sly Stone version at the end was certainly melancholy (and very beautiful.)

Oops -- Doris Day, not Peggy Lee.

Response by poster: I like these! But they aren't the song I'm looking for.

A neuron fired somewhere and I remembered that "life's a bitch" also figured prominently in the lyrics.

Could it be "Prisoner of Life", featured in the movie "Short Cuts"? More jazz than big band but ya never know.

Jill Tracy and Abby Travis perform music like this. I'm not well-acquainted with either, but it's another place to look.
