Which developers should I add to my del.icio.us network?

Who should I add to my del.icio.us network if I'm interested in web development? I currently have a few of my friends and some javascript gurus, but I'd like to add some more. Is there a website that lists developers and their del.icio.us usernames?

I don't know of a centralized listing of web developers on del.icio.us, but you could look at your favorite bloggers' sidebars and see if they have del.icio.us links listed. It might also be useful to look at the networks of your friends and javascript gurus and see who they're following.

There's also this Metatalk thread where a bunch of people listed their del.icio.us usernames and what kind of thing they like to bookmark - some of them mentioned web development.

I suspect the del.icio.us has several thousand people who are interested in a topic like javascript. Some of these people will be gurus in the sense that they are very accomplished and are sought out for the advice they publish online. Finding the gurus who also use del.icio.us should be relatively easy: just look on their web sites and ask around.

But the most interesting people to follow on del.icio.us may be the enthusiastic javascript link collectors rather than the gurus. These are the people who take time to read, tag and comment on a lot of articles for this topic.

To find somebody like this select some javascript tagged articles which particularly appeal to you. Now look at the comments that other users have added to for these articles- look out for somebody who has written their own annotation on the link for example and then look to see that else they have bookmarked. When you have found somebody who appeals to you add them to your network and look at see they have added to theirs.

You can add subscriptions to tags that interest you (e..g javascript, css, xhtml, webdev, standards, accessibility, webdesign, etc.). All links with those tags added by any user are added to your subscriptions page. A great way to waste many hours find stuff.

Response by poster: Thanks, these are great tips, but I was hoping for some specific usernames as well.

Best answer: OK, I'm not sure what your particular taste in web developers is, but here are a few specific usernames that I can think of off the top of my head who vaguely fall under that scope, in no particular order: John Resig, Ethan Marcotte, Dan Benjamin, and Jon Hicks. And Les Orchard and the rest of the del.icio.us team. We're web developers too! :)

You might be interested in the official Adobe del.icio.us account. It looks like there's a lot of links related to their programs, but there seems to be a large amount of other tags, too. There's also a bundle called 'Authors&Experts,' which might be of some interest. Looking at Adobe's network, I see that they have two people from that section listed as a 'mutual connection,' Jen de Haan and Luanne Seymour. Maybe worth poking around?
