Why blue and yellow?

Is there some significance to the colors blue and yellow in Peru?

On a recent trip to Peru, I noticed the color combination blue and yellow everywhere--PeruRail trains, construction signs in Lima, the National Stadium, Inca Cola bottles, etc. I asked some locals but they claimed it was nothing or they weren't sure. There must be something to it, though? The flag colors are red and white so that can't be it. Googling didn't help, so I thought perhaps the Hive would know.

The only explanation I can think of is that Lima's municipal colors are blue and yellow.

...which I think originated with a parrot , known for it's longevity and faithfulness (this is from a key business contract many years ago near Orinoco. He may have been spinning me a yarn!)

Response by poster: Hmm. That parrot idea is very interesting!
