I'm hosting a New Year's Eve party. What music do you suggest I play?
I would appreciate specific [band] - [album] names, if possible.
And also, if any of you guys/gals are in Bucharest today, you're invited.

Really depends on your guests and their musical tastes. Me and my friends like more house-y, indie stuff when we party, so albums that will surely be played are Daft Punk--Discovery, LCD Soundsystem--Sound of Silver, and a great old-school DJ set by two members of LCD, James Murphy & Pat Mahoney--Fabriclive 36. Happy new year!

"The Champ" off of GhostFace Killah's "Fishscale" album seems to be a crowd pleaser. It has samples from Mr. T and Burghess Meredith in Rocky 3, which are tons of fun. Also "Kilo" off the same album is a blast.
The entire GirlTalk "NightRipper" album is great too, but it's more of a 45 minute track than a single album.

I second LCD's Sound of Silver! Very enjoyable.
I assume you want upbeat, dance-inducing stuff, right? I like to play classic soul/r&b/disco like Earth, Wind & Fire, Marvin Gaye, Aretha, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Rolling Stones, Bill Withers, etc. They're familiar, dance-able, and appeal to a wide variety of crowds.
New-ish stuff to put on: Cansei De Ser Sexy (aka CSS) - Self titled, Feist - Let it Die; the Reminder, The Pipettes - We are the Pipettes, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings - 100 Days, 100 Nights, Arcade Fire - Neon Bible; The Funeral, Of Montreal - Hissing Fauna Are You the Destroyer?, Justice - *cross symbol*
Happy New Year!

That's it? The question is, "What should I play at a party?" Too broad. Here's some New Year's tracks.
Dismemberment Plan - "The Ice of Boston"
Death Cab for Cutie - "The New Year"
Casiotone for the Painfully alone - "New Year's Kiss"
Otis Redding - "New Year's Resolution"
Defiance, Ohio - "Letter Home"

The best "stroke of midnight" tune I ever heard at a party was the theme from Sanford and Son. It rocked to bring in a new year on that note.

I still can't get enough of The Zombies "This Will Be Our Year," which I discovered through this MeFi post. Seems appropriate.
