How does one eject a stuck DAT Tape?

The tape in question is stuck in a HP StorageWorks DAT 160 USB Tape Drive. I've tried the HP troubleshooting steps to no avail (holding the eject button for five seconds). Any ideas?

Often, these drives can be locked by the host to prevent premature ejection. Have you tried power cycling the drive then ejecting? Or, rebooting the host and power cycling the drive?

Response by poster: Thanks, grumpy, those were my first two tries. I kept hitting eject during the boot sequence, and I can't get the tapeware software to connect to the drive, so I can't edit its settings. The thing is stuck like glue.

Hmm, I don't know the technical terminology for any of this, but I did experience this problem with a DAT player a bunch of times recently. I guess my suggestion is pretty much the same as grumpy's though: I could get mine out after turning everything off and turning it back on again. I think I actually had to unplug the thing and plug it back in to get it to spit the tape out. I had a different brand of drive though.
