Mix selection bag of stuff and questions that have been bugging me this year
1.) How do car manufactures decided what side of the car to put fuel cap?
Im always amazed when I go to fill up my car at the petrol station.. it seems to be an exact 50/50 between the left & right between all the different makes, models and manufactures and its a good job too otherwise it would be carnage.
Do they get together and have some kind of prearranged agreement?
2.) Im looking for a list of words that are the same or at least very similar in all of the indo european / romance languages (eg: English/French/Spainish/Italian)
for instance the word "capricious" is in
Portuguese: caprichoso
Spanish: caprichoso
French: capricieux
Italian: capriccioso
english: capricious
I think such words are sometimes called homologous but maybe not commonly.
3.) At the weekend I cycled 200km in 8hrs and a bit, I got a very large blister on my right hand (despite wearing gloves) and nothing on my left.
I also do alot of running, Ive noticed that on my three pairs of high end running socks I am starting to wear a hole through where the big toe is on the right side (yes these socks are designed for left and right and have it marked on them) on all three. It would seem I am definitely seem to putting more power down my right side when I run or cycle, does anyone know of any sort of serious studies that show sportsmen do this? and if I should try to stop myself, inorder to be more balanced when i run and so faster? I am right handed btw.
4.) Is there any scientific evidence that cows lie down just before its about to start to rain?
5.) A list of when and where wild plants and animals were first domesticated into food sources.
