Music from Life on Mars?

Music like unto that featured in Life on Mars?

I just got done watching both seasons of the British show Life on Mars. It's a fantastic show, and if you haven't seen it you should. If you have seen it and know a bit about music, I'd like your help. The music on that show was freaking fantastic, and I'd really love to get my hands on more of the same; either the bands that were actually used in the show or others like them. Thanks!

Why not buy the soundtrack?

There seemed to be a fair share of seventies glam rock in the show. If that's your cup of tea you might enjoy bands like T. Rex (I strongly recommend the albums Electric Warrior and The Slider), The Sweet (Desolation Blvd?), and Eno era Roxy Music...

You'll also want the soundtracks to The Velvet Goldmine and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Plus, pick up the Bowie album that contains the song "Life on Mars."

(I also adored that show, BTW. Have you seen "Blackpool," called "Viva Blackpool" in the U.S.? I suspect you'd love it as well.)

Here's a list of artists used on the soundtrack.

Most of them should be just as well known in the US as they are/were here. I'm listening to Sladest at the moment and loving every minute.
