St. Louis New Years Fireworks

St. Louis New Years Fireworks: I'm going to be in St. Louis over New Years Eve. Where are the fireworks? Googling has found a fireworks display at First Night St. Louis at 9:00 PM and another in Westport Plaza at 6:00 PM. Surely there's more than this (and at least one show at midnight) right?

Also, any experiences regarding which of these shows are likely to be the best would be helpful. Since I'm not from St. Louis, it's hard to figure out whether these shows will be worth my time.

The only one I'm familiar with is First Night, which is a pretty big one, from what I've heard in the past. It's no 4th of July show, but big enough to be worth your while.

St. Louis is a bunch of pyros, so the downtown (First Night) show outghta be good. Unfortunately, it's at 9 for 'family' reasons.

Best answer: Actually, there are First Night fireworks displays at both 9 pm and midnight, the earlier show for the kiddies who have to be put to bed and the later show for the night owls.

Note also that First Night is no longer downtown, but back where it began in Grand Center (centered around Grand Blvd. between Lindell and Delmar), with a ton of indoor and outdoor entertainment besides the fireworks. There are all sorts of details on the First Night St. Louis website.

Best answer: The First Night Saint Louis fireworks are actually launched from the Saint Louis University campus, from the Olive Parking Garage (#38 ) on this map (.pdf).

The adjacent ballfields are good places to watch them from.

The 9 o'clock set will be more crowded, lots of kids / families. The midnight set will be pretty much the same from a fireworks perspective, but a bit less crowded. Either is worth seeing if you enjoy pyro.

Hope you have fun.
