Chicagofilter: Does anyone know of a place along the El where I can take my son to get his picture taken with Santa Claus? Thanks!

Daley Plaza Santa's House is a little shelter on Daley Plaza. Santa's hanging out there through the 24th. It's part of the Christkindlmarket, an outdoors German holiday market on the plaza. Lots of stuff for kids to gawk at (train set, big tree, hot pretzels), and beer and Glühwein for the adults.

And there's always the CTA holiday train.

CTA holiday train is one of the coolest things the CTA does. You can't miss it, I've seen it from the highway a few times, and it's outstanding.

Here's one tomorrow (that's free) in forest park that sounds really cool. You can get there via the Harlem Green Line stop, or the Forest Park Blue Line stop.

"Forest Park kicks off the 2006 holiday season with the Holiday walk on Friday the 1st and free photos with Santa on Saturday the 2nd. After posing for complimentary photos, Santa will visit Madison street businesses who will be spreading holiday cheer throughout the day. Entertainment...in store specials...live reindeer...horse drawn carriage rides...marshmallow roast and more are just a sampling of the day's festivities. The evening ends with the tree lighting and caroling.

We saw a poster for the holiday walk a few weeks ago while we were doing some shopping on Madison St.

There is also a free holiday open house at the Cheney Mansion in Oak Park from 11-7 Dec. 4th-7th and another holiday open house this Sunday the 3rd from 1-4 at Pleasant Home.
