Paid (cheap) dial-up ISP: Juno or Netzero? Or others?
Sadly, Verizon not available in Arlington, Washington. Have read both ISP's I mentioned are unstable. The user probably won't be doing heavy downloads, and is on a mac. Thanks.

My mom (who is on a mac) uses All2Easy. It's $4.95/month; she pretty much uses it for email and surfing, and hasn't had any problems with it in the two years she's had it.
We found it using Freedomlist, which seems to be a pretty good resource for getting the skinny on free/cheap ISPs.

In many areas, you can now get ATT DSL for 12.99/month with a one year contract. Seems to me like the extra buck or two would be well worth it.

Hate to say it, but even AOL is only $9.95 a month, for their basic dial up plan.

if you can dial to places such as seattle for free, nocharge may work for you. It's 100% free on their end, but you may be charged longdistance by your phone company
