Love hotel in San Francisco?

I'm planning a sordid little affair in San Francisco and would like to find a nice hotel at which to play. Customarily for such things the event is overnight, but not this one and therefore check-in time is a major constraint.
There are plenty of hotels in San Francisco, all of which I've called restrict check-in time to the afternoon. I'm looking for a nice one that will allow an AM check-in. I won't stick around overnight but of course there's no problem with paying for the day. There are some play spaces with private rooms but that really won't do for this particular event. Nearly anywhere in the city is OK, but I like the area around Union Square the best.

Response by poster: I have upgefuckt this posting, having not included the keyword "San Francisco" in the descriptive text but only in the title. If you came to advise me about another city, I'm sorry, it's my first posting to Ask and I goofed.

Most hotels have the same policy - if the room is available and clean, you can check in early.
Booking the room from the night before is a good option, but you'd prob have to be out by 12.
If you can book last minute, call hotels in the morning and ask if they have a room available for THAT DAY at whatever time you want to check in.

Best answer: Don't ask about check-in times, just explain what you need. It won't be the first time anyone asked. You don't have to explain what you're doing, just say you need to use a room from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or whatever, and how much would that be? Probably they willl quote a normal overnight rate. Most hotels will not turn down business.

I do this for work a lot. Ask for a half day rate, a lot of hotels will understand using a hotel room for business reasons during the day. When I take the red eye back East, and want to take a shower before my meetings, I check in at 8am and am out by noon.

Best answer: I agree with Beagle, just ask for what you need.
Maybe even say you are flying in on a red eye and ask if they can accomodate for an early check-in. My family recently stayed at a Holiday Inn (I know, not necessarily the right place for a romantic tryst-but some are nicer than others) and we were able to check in at 7 o'clock in the morning. Good luck.

Response by poster: Many thanks; the hotel I chose was totally OK with beagle and LoriFLA's suggestion and I'll be checking in at eleven.
