I want to share my home

KubuntuFilter: I can't seem to share my home directory with the rest of my LAN.

The configure panel to enable local network file sharing is ghosted out so I'm unable to make any changes through the kde gui, and I don't know the command to enable sharing as root. Any help would be appreciated.

At the bottom of the screen next to the "Close" button you will see an "Administrator Mode..." button. Click that, enter your password and you will be free to make changes. This is assuming that you are the main account on the computer.

Best answer: Okay. Then the problem is probably not having the proper packages installed. You are probably wanting to share with other Windows computers? Just load up Adept and install the Samba package. If you want NFS, then install the nfs-common package. After that pull your System Settings back up and you should be all set.
